Sonophoresis is a process that increases the absorption of topical compounds (transdermal delivery) into the epidermis and dermis of the skin. Sonophoresis occurs when ultrasound waves create micro-vibrations within the skin epidermis. This increases the overall kinetic energy of molecules that make up the topical agents. Depending on the products used during treatment, active ingredients are released, which will penetrate deeper into the skin to target the effects of ageing and dehydrated skin.
