Thermage: Prevention or Cure?
Is Thermage better for prevention or cure? Well, it's a bit of both.
As with most things in life, prevention is better than cure. Thermage can act as a preventive measure against aging, helping to maintain youthful skin before those wrinkles even think about appearing. At the same time, if you're seeing signs of aging each time you look into the mirror, it's not too late for you.
The science? Thermage uses radio frequency technology to stimulate collagen production, tightening and firming your skin. So whether you want to stay ahead of aging or tackle it head-on, Thermage has your back!
3 Things to Consider When Deciding Between Thermage or Potenza
Three things to consider when deciding between Thermage or Potenza.
Number 1: The Depth
Potenza Microneedling RF specifically targets the dermis layer, effectively addressing issues like rough skin texture and acne scars. In contrast, Thermage penetrates deeper into the dermis and reaches the subcutaneous fat layer to stimulate collagen formation, promoting a more youthful appearance.
Number 2: The Procedure
Potenza's microneedles are more invasive, impacting downtime. Thermage is non-invasive, ensuring a quicker recovery with no downtime.
Number 3: The Sensation During the Treatment
Potenza comes with a prickling sensation due to the microneedling process. However, it's worth noting that a numbing cream is applied before the session to alleviate discomfort.
On the other hand, Thermage offers a different experience, a warm sensation alternating with the cooling effect on the skin surface. This cooling sensation aids in keeping the skin comfortable during the procedure.

3 Reasons Why We Don't Use Numbing Cream Before Thermage
Three reasons we don't use numbing cream before thermage.
1. Safety
If you are too numb and unable to feel anything during the procedure, it increases the risk of getting burns should the energy go beyond the limit you can withstand.
2. Effectiveness
The technology used in Thermage carefully detects and analyzes your skin's condition before releasing energy. However, numbing cream alters your skin texture as it is oil-based. When the machine analyzes your skin with numbing cream applied, it releases energy that may not be optimal for achieving the best results.
3. Manage pain
Yes, you heard it right. Thermage incorporates a cooling tip to protect the skin, preventing burns and minimizing discomfort. Applying numbing cream, however, counteracts the cooling sensation, leaving only the sensation of heat during the procedure.

How Often Should I Go For Thermage Sessions?
Hey, doc. How often should I go for Thermage sessions?
The first factor is your age. In general, we would say that the Thermage interval should be approximately about 1 year apart. However, depending on your age, you will age at different speeds.
The second factor to consider is genetics, but unfortunately this is something that you cannot change. Everyone ages at a different speed. If you're aging slower than others in your peer group, then you can do it a little bit more farther apart.
The third and last factor will be your expectation or personal goals. Results will vary between individuals. So if you do have higher expectations, I do recommend to do the treatment a little bit more frequently.

So one of the first steps that we do is apply the grid to the face. So although the grid is already drawn on the skin, the treatment will be customized for each patient. After the grid is applied, we will use the coupling gel to ensure proper contact and delivery of the radio frequency into the skin. The treatment usually takes about 45 to 60 minutes, depending on the patient, and after the treatment, we will gently remove the grid and the gel, and since there's no downtime, you are free to carry on with your everyday activities.
