Polynucleotide vs Fillers
Three differences between polynucleotides and fillers.
1. Polynucleotides are DNA fragments extracted from salmon, whereas fillers are either cross-linked hyaluronic acid or other synthetic polymers.
2. Safety Synthetic polymers or cross-linked hyaluronic acid fillers can block the blood vessels, which can cause a severe complication such as necrosis or dying of the tissue and/or blindness.
Whereas, polynucleotides are very safe, in the 10 years that it's been out in the market, there has still been zero cases of vascular compromise or blockage of the blood vessel.
3. As we age, we do lose volume, and a lot of this volume loss is due to depletion of the bone or bone reabsorption. So areas where that happens, you're gonna lose volume. So fillers can help to replace that volume in those areas immediately. On the other hand, polynucleotides can help to improve your skin quality. It stimulates collagen and can also hydrate the skin. So whereas it is less effective in creating volume, it can still help you naturally improve your skin and other tissue quality inside your face for more natural results.

Is There An Alternative to Fillers?
Is there an alternative to fillers?
We have to admit fillers do provide instant results. However, you have to know that there are some risks that are involved in the fillers, although rare, can be very serious, including blindness. However, fillers that are used today are only meant to last 1 to 2 years. So if you would like to maintain that effect, then you have to repeat that procedure every 1 or 2 years and every time you do it, you are exposed to that risk again.
On the other hand, there are treatments such as polynucleotides and other energy based devices like HIFU and radio frequency. So we have to change the way we approach ageing.
Fillers can only do one thing, it can only produce volume. However, the bone reabsorption or the skin changes, the muscle atrophy still proceed. We need to start to rejuvenate and to prevent and slow down the signs of aging so we can age more naturally and gracefully through usage of polynucleotides in and other energy based devices.
Overfilled Syndrome: Why Fillers Are Just Not My Cup of Tea
Let's talk about overfill syndrome.
Overfill syndrome is where patients receive dermal fillers to volumize or enhance their original features. However, due to excessive injection of these fillers, it causes distortion of their face. This can lead to a very unnatural look. This syndrome extends beyond the immediate harm of overfilled faces.
It's about the profound consequences that follow. This can lead to patients believing they've halted the ageing process, a dangerous illusion that can waste precious time. They lose insight into the ongoing ageing process, blindly chasing the idea that more fillers equal anti ageing. The natural progression, more invasive treatments eventually may be leading to plastic surgery. And here's the harsh reality.
The true damage caused isn't just physical, but emotional as well. Patients invest in a never ending cycle of fillers expecting eternal youth, only to be disappointed at the end when they realize they can't escape the natural ageing process. As a medical aesthetic doctor, my focus is on enhancing your natural beauty while ensuring your well-being. Remember, it's not about stopping time, but embracing every stage of your unique journey of ageing. Let's make choices that empower us, boost our confidence, and honor the beauty that comes with age.
Fillers Explained: Fat Atrophy Edition
When it comes to using fillers to treat fat atrophy, there are certain risks that you need to be aware of. One is that it could be that it's very short acting, that it could dissolve over 6 to 12 months and then you'll have to do it again to have the same effect.
The second is a bit opposite to that, sometimes especially the polymer fillers can last longer than you might want them to, and then if it's causing a little bit too much volume, or if it's very bumpy, then that could be an issue because it's going to be lasting for years rather than months.
Another side effect of fillers can be delayed inflammatory reaction or DIR. This happens not immediately, but maybe a few months or maybe even a few years after you've done fillers, there could be redness and swelling in the areas that you've had injected. Even though there's ways to reduce the inflammation, it's something that could be repetitive, recurrent, and chronic. And the most worst case scenario, however very rare, is blindness. This is when a filler is inadvertently injected into a blood vessel that leads to the eyes, and this can cause permanent blindness, and this would be the worst case scenario. So is there an alternative to fillers? Well, there is.
It's still very early stages, but polynucleotides can be a safe alternative to fillers when it comes to replacing volume in cases of fat atrophy. Of course, not all fillers have these side effects. They can be quite rare, but it's important that you do know that they are possible. And when it comes to polynucleotides and replacing volume in fat atrophy, it's still very early stage and there's still much research that we have to do to find out the effectiveness and safety moving forward.
