• If you have dry skin
• If you have skin that is oily on the surface but dehydrated underneath
• If you wish to maintain your skin quality and enhance general skin health
• If you have undergone laser and/or other heat-generating procedures that dehydrate the skin

Since VOLITE is injected into the skin there is some pain. However, VOLITE does contain the anaesthetic, lidocaine, to reduce the pain during injection. Also, the needle is even smaller than those used for “botox” injections. Numbing cream will also be applied before the procedure to minimise your pain.

VOLITE is a hyaluronic acid gel but in a thinner state to allow the product to spread and distribute in the skin layer. Other types of hyaluronic acid gel fillers are thicker and are mainly used to replace volume in certain areas. Therefore the VOLITE risks of some side effects are less than the thicker HA fillers, but you still need to be aware of reported side effects from hyaluronic acid “fillers.”

Early side effects can be pain, tenderness, redness, swelling, bruising or itching sensation in the treated area. These side effects can resolve within 2-3 days, but some symptoms like swelling or bruising can last up to 10-14 days or longer. Aggravation of acne(pimples), sometimes accompanied by redness, may also occur a few days to a few weeks after the injection and may require separate treatment.

Late side effects of HA could be discolouration at the injection sites, granulomas (accumulation of hardened tissue), delayed allergic reactions, bumps or scars which may appear weeks or even months after the procedure.

Rarer and more serious complications include abscesses (hard and swollen sores that may contain pus – may require surgical drainage and subsequent scarring); blocking of blood vessels (may be permanent) causing necrosis(damage/death of skin), blindness, or stroke. These complications are more relevant when injecting “thicker” HA fillers to localised areas in “bolus” for volume enhancement especially (but not limited) around the nose and eye areas.

You should not apply make-up for 24-48 hours to avoid unnecessary clogging of the pores which may lead to acne or infection of the puncture sites. You should also avoid prolonged exposure to sunlight, and extreme temperatures, using saunas or Turkish baths, massages, and strenuous exercise for two weeks after the injection. If you experience any abnormal signs or symptoms (such as blanching or darkening of a patch of skin, localised pain/tenderness which does not lessen over time, or aggravating swelling) that concern you, you should notify the doctor immediately so proper and appropriate treatment may be performed. If needed, the HA can be dissolved using a hyaluronidase solution which is prepared in the clinic.
